Here I am again in Venice.
I had an horrendous journey to get here & several times I didn’t think I would make it.
We were leaving for the airport at 10.30 but snow began to stick so we left at 10am. Thank goodness we did. The roads hadn’t been gritted & it took us over an hour to do the 25minute drive to the motorway. Thank goodness it was a Saturday & following a Bank Holiday the roads were quiet which alleviated holdups.
Swiss air charged me foir excess baggage – and I was 7 kilos lighter than last year. The plane was an hour late leaving and I only had 11/2 hours transfer time. I got straight off the plane & onto the transfer bus & realised I had left my handbag by the side of my seat. The steward retrieved it for me, but the first bus had left, so it was ages before everyone was off & we left for the terminal.
Had to go through passport control & scanning & by this point I could hardly beath – running with two bags! Thankfully there was a guy from Swiss there waiting for me & he grabbed a bag & took me to the gate saying the plane would now wait for me. WOW. A mini bus came to take me out to the plane. And my luggage also made it. I was meant to get here.
Kirsten met me & brought me to the apartment. It is great. Light & spacious. The first thing we did was get my internet access working then I paid my rent.
Today I have been to church; the supermarket had lunch sat outside overlooking the Zattere. Was welcomed by friends & the waiter. Have made arrangements to see two Italian friends during the week already. This afternoon I am going to see the producer of the pantomime with my costume. Tonight I must unpack.
More tomorrow.
